Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius: What to Expect After December 19, 2020

A lot of people have been asking what to expect with Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius on December 19. Saturn goes into Aquarius just a couple of days before Jupiter, and then both planets will be at 0 degrees of the sign.

There’s a video that is an apt (and really funny) metaphor. It shows a number of people standing in a serene garden. Each is meditatively forming a special kind of mudra with both hands. It’s funny to westerners because they are all sticking up their middle fingers, so calmly and serenely.

I think that this “new meditation” will soon be practiced by many people around the globe, in many different ways and in different areas of their lives. This is Saturn in Aquarius, which seems to work in contrast to the authoritarian attitudes and structures of the past, in favor of new attitudes and structures that support the future well-being of humankind.

Some of us have been waiting for this moment, as it will be liberating and empowering. Others will feel like their “Cheese Is Getting Moved” by some cantankerously rebellious people.

I’m not sure if any of us will escape being on either end of the ice-cold and meditatively unbreakable middle finger of Saturn in Aquarius. This is because there will be a strong belief system behind your resolute, determination and that of others.

So the lesson could be this: Try to be a rebel with a cause (and a good cause), instead of being a rebel just for the sake of being rebellious. Try to be as flexible as you can when you encounter the stiff middle finger of others, and remember that you’re holding one up as well — and yours is just as unpleasant to the other person as the one that belongs to THAT person.

We still have a month to prepare! And one way to prepare is to understand the “Aquarian Belief System.”

The rest of this post explains my understanding of the Aquarian Belief System. Feel free to skip it — unless you want to practice becoming a REAL Aquarian in preparation for the Dec. 19 shift…

The planet Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius in modern Astrology. And most Astrologers agree that Uranus should have been named Prometheus when it was discovered around the time of the American Revolution — because Prometheus is more aligned with the “symbolism” that Uranus represents.

“The Creation of Man” was a beloved project of Prometheus. And even though the Gods of the Zodiac scoffed at it. Prometheus loved his creation so much that he felt there shouldn’t be this idea of “human mortals being below or lesser than the gods.” To correct the situation, Prometheus stole the fire of Zeus from Mt. Olympus and shared it with humans in a tremendous act of rebellion. This was the coveted lightning bolt of Zeus who was the King of the Gods at the time (Zeus is also known as Jupiter).

Needless to say, this created a technological revolution! The people had the power of the Gods, and the status of humankind had been elevated. This is why Uranus symbolizes the LIGHTNING STRIKE of ILLUMINATION or ENLIGHTENMENT that comes to us out of nowhere.

Aquarius says: I KNOW.

Aquarius is a symbol of freedom (real freedom). Real liberation. And real enlightenment.

As an aside, it’s worth noting that Jupiter (a/k/a Zeus) was the one who defeated the previous King of the Gods, the old, conservative, curmudgeon Saturn, who was his father. After defeating Saturn, Zeus brought his reign of fun, optimism, freedom, and enjoyment to the Universe. But Jupiter still looked down upon humans, apparently, and that just wasn’t really fair.

So the sign of Aquarius, ruled by the planet Uranus (Prometheus), is a kingdom of equality. It’s the domain where humankind, as brothers and equal friends, support the common good and walk together into the future — in pursuit of the Utopian vision.

What I find interesting is that on December 19, Jupiter and Saturn come together into the land of Aquarius — at 0 degrees Aquarius. This is the opening of Aquarius where the symbolism is strongest and clearest. These two hierarchical-minded rulers are walking right into the Kingdom of Uranus (Prometheus) — the land of equality — at the point where the influence of the sign is the most potent.

Saturn is the co-ruler of Aquarius by ancient standards, so that’s excellent. But Saturn is also very stubborn when he gets there. He sees EVERYTHING that went wrong — and he starts to work resolutely for the equal rights of all. And Jupiter the planet of belief is also there, so our belief systems move (also very stubbornly) into belief systems that honor equality and things that support the common good.

But where is Uranus — the Ruler of Aquarius — at this time? Uranus is in the sign of Taurus (the sign of the fertile fields of Earth). Uranus is sowing the seeds of revolution on Earth and he’s been doing that for the last few years. Now, Uranus has Saturn and Jupiter at his disposal.

So, as Prometheus does his revolutionary work of upheaval on Earth — disrupting our power structures, belief systems, and destabilizing our hierarchies of unfair, and undeserved elitism — it seems that the two “Kings” of the Zodiac are holding hands together in rebellious solidarity — raising their stiff middle fingers against greed, selfishness, immaturity, and stupidity.

And what inspires this middle finger? An UNBREAKABLE belief system that plans to CHANGE THE EARTH for the betterment of humankind.

The potential snag in all of this is that different people will have such strong and differing BELIEFS about what is best for humankind — that we could be at odds with each other. Groups and factions could be staring at each other saying with absolute certainty that the other group is completely WRONG and MISGUIDED.

So, as you raise your middle finger, and see the middle finger of others, maybe you can remember to adopt a TRULY Aquarian attitude — one that honors ALL PEOPLE, ALL BELIEF SYSTEMS, ALL IDEAS, and ALL PERSPECTIVES as equal. Give others the FREEDOM to think and believe what they want.

This Aquarian attitude of live-and-let-live respects people who have different ideas about the way to move forward — even when we lack the mental flexibility to understand them.

We have a month to get ready before December 19. So start practicing your herculean levels of tolerance now. We will need it in 2021.
